The Startling
After her mother passed away, she eagerly anticipated reading her will. At the party, her brother, aunts, and the attorney overseeing the distribution of assets were all in attendance. The lawyer broke the terrible news to the woman as she drank weak tea from a broken teacup in a scenario straight out of a heartwarming Hallmark movie. She was shocked to learn that her aunts and brother were going to split the astonishing amount of $5 million that her mother had saved her whole life. When the woman saw that she had been left with absolutely nothing, she was shocked.
As her emotions took over, she cried hysterically, causing mascara to ruin her clothing. As she struggled to hide her condescending smile, her brother and aunts cracked condescending smiles. As she ran her fingers over her nose, she wondered, "How could my mother have done this to me?" The thought crossed her mind. Due to her tendency to overanalyze things, she began to question whether she had been of sufficient assistance to her mother during her last months.
Meeting a Unanticipated Detour
