Ingredients: * 1 pound of trimmed and sliced into 1/2-inch pieces boneless chuck roast
the following ingredients: 1 1/2 cups of thinly sliced carrots, 1 1/2 cups of celery, 2/3 cup of chopped onion, 8 ounces of pre-sliced mushrooms, 2 tablespoons of beef base (not the same as beef broth, but used to make beef broth), 8 to 10 cups of water, 1 large bay leaf, 1 cup of uncooked pearl barley, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 tablespoon of garlic
Instructions
1. While stirring often, brown the meat in a nonstick fry pan.
Move the steak to the crockpot after removing it from the pan. Along with the beef broth, water, garlic, and bay leaf, add the carrots, celery, onion, and mushrooms.
Third, after an hour at high heat, add pearl barley and reduce heat to low; continue cooking until beef and veggies are cooked. Add pepper and salt and mix well.
Leave the bay leaf aside.
