1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
1 medium onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups chicken or beef broth
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for a little heat)

8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
1/2 cup ricotta cheese (for garnish, optional)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for garnish)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for garnish)

Instructions
Cook the Meat:
